birthdays!

i love birthday events, they just give me another reason to sew something special for someone :D

i made this little yukata for a tweetmomma friend's 1 y/o son birthday .isnt it cute?? this is my first time sewing for boys but im glad it turned out fine. now i want a boy for myself!

and few days ago we were invited to another bday party by hubs colleague, when i told him to buy the bday present for the bday girl, he said y dont u sew something instead ? haha senang cakapp. it was so last minute and i didnt have enuff time to sew a garment, so i decided to sew a little handbag for the 2 y/o bday girl. ayra saw the handbag and claimed it as hers immediately. i definitely need to sew her another one for this coming raya!
didnt use any pattern for this handbag, i just cut the fabric spontaneously and went along with it. glad it turned out fine!

the cute outer fabric is from @arifahira :D (padded)
closure : magnetic button

making money from the hobby

Since i got back from japan i have been thinking about turning this (sewing) into a money making hobby a lot. i was very inspired with mai of okinokiyo who sacrified her high paying job to be a WAHM. i have the skills ,(well not much, but i can sew garments so, it is something isnt it? lol) but i really dont have the courage to start.
Then , Alhamdulillah, Mai offered me to help her to sew some hats and i got paid for it! finally im making money from my hobby, its not much compared to your monthly pay that you get from working in the office, but i value every single ringgit and I really treasure the time that i spent making them. im now sewing some dresses for her and im loving it. I honestly think this is a good start for me and i hope i can open orders of my own brand soon but maybe not now. yet. im still working on some products (dunno when its possible to be revealed tho hahaha) pls pray for me ok. :D
btw these are some of the projects that ive work on this past couple months
  • sucking pads ordered by a twitter friend to be used on her new ergo
  • car litter bag for my besties, the lining is made from laminated cotton so you can just wipe it clean! i wish i made one for my car. haiyah.
  • a super size jumbo bean bag from scratch measuring 180cmx150cm (!) for myself but got hogged by the diva in the house. the comfiest thing ever! i had the beans imported all the way from ipoh thanks to Liz of Snuggbaby! lol the power of twittervalley.

the most cruciating part of the project was my decision to sew appliques on the jumbo bean bag cover, which gave me severe headaches for not having enuff sleep finishing it. pheww im sooo glad its done. and i will not do that again, EVER!

  • a tunic for ayra

    • a pair look for both of us :D im loving my dress to bits!
hopefully i can work my butt off to sew more soon!

    coasters n baby bib

a few projects that ive been workin on
here are coasters for kak ira

aandd a bib for darling fifi, lyns doter. (kasi anaknye lah ye..beralah skeet LOL)

there n F initial at the back too!

    sewing roll

i have a tool box-turned into sewing tool box :D bought from carrefour alamanda which i loove so much of its practicality. unfortunately its soo big n definitely not portable at all to be carried out of the house. kang org ingat aku mechanic pulak.LOL  haha

so i  sew a special roll to keep the notions n tools using some of the fat quarters that i have left.
i used fusible fleece as interfacing and a ribbon for the closure (same concept like the previous passport holder)

    washing machine slip cover

ive been wanting to sew something every weekend but we always have other plans, or goin out, or goin back to putrajya yada yada. so this time i measure all my left ikea fabrics n attempted to sew patchwork slip cover for our not-s0-new-anymore w/machinne. our w/m right now is located near the stove so i have been cookin right beside it everyday! i hate to see the lovely white body turning yellow or sticky due to the oil fume /whatsoever so i decided to make a baju for her! hehe
i llovee lovee the out come but boyy patchwork is hard especially when u have to measure n work from scratch! lecehnyeelaa but the outcome was all worth it. yappari if uwant to do slipcovers , its best to work with upholstery fabrics since they drape well due to the heaviness.
im too lazy to  take proper pictures so here are some pic from my camera-phone.

i planned to attach tali at the bottom so that i can tie both end up but next time ajelah. the whole measuring, cutting and sewing process was tiring already. besar gila woh nak jahit menda alah nih. berat pulak tu! :D

now all my ikea fabrics are used! yeay!
